This elegant antique French Quimper platter has a simply exquisite, colorful ruffled edge and a beautiful painted scene of Breton women holding hands and dancing while musicians play instruments. The extraordinary colors in the glaze are bright and fresh. It is signed on the front and also features the HB hallmark on the reverse. A fine Decor Riche border surrounds the central scene with the lovely arabesque design. We believe this piece dates to c. 1920s. The sticker on the reverse is from a previous sale.
The overall condition is excellent antique, especially for its age. We note chips to one handle, another at the edge and an area of loss along the ruffled edge (see photos). Please examine the photographs carefully as they form part of the condition description.
