Antique Plate Battle of Hastings by Porquier-Beau for F. Caen France c1875-1900
Size: 10” diameter
This plate depicts images from the Tapestry of Bayeux, showing the Norman conquest of England with the Battle of Hastings (1066) portrayed in the center of this plate. It was made by Porquier-Beau, a Quimper company that produced items for F. Caen in Normandy (the name in the mark). Alfred Beau was an artist for Porquier and partner 1875-1903. The only wear is on edge shown in pictures. Great condition for age. See pictures to judge condition for yourself.
