    Description

Offering for your consideration an unusual HB Quimper "violin" shape "secouette" snuff bottle or "tabatiere" tobacco bottle dating from about 1900.
This sweet snuff bottle depicts a traditional peasant man with his walking stick. The reverse side has a charming large, pansy in lavender and yellow predominantly displayed with tiny blue forget-me nots. Pansies are known to be flowers of remembrance in friendship as are forget-me-nots.
The sides are painted with three black ermine tails, which are the symbol of Brittany.
The piece measures 3 3/4" tall and is in excellent antique condition.
It is signed on the bottom only HB.
