Preforming an ear measurement, your thermometer checks the temperature emitted by the tympanic membrane or eardrum. In other words, To use it as an ear thermometer, the thermometer will measure temperature in your eardrum. Therefore, You have to take off the cap on top of the thermometer. For adults, you have to pull the ear a little backward and upward to straighten the ear canal. For kids, pulling the outer ear straight backward will do the same. We advise taking ear measurements for babies of 6 months and older. Using ear mode for younger babies <6 month is not advisable. The thermometer probe might be too big to fit in your baby’s ears. Use forehead mode instead.
