    Description

This kiln fused dichroic stained glass mezuzah case was handmade by the two of us, Lawrence and Audrey Goldsmith (LJG&AAG).   Many people purchase them for their home or apartment and for wedding gifts and housewarming gifts.  We have them in our home and have given many to friends and family for special gifts.
The case is signed and dated on the back.
It is approximately 6 inches high and approximately 1 1/2 inches wide at its widest points and can hold a scroll up to approximately 4 1/4 inches long.
A scroll (Klaf in Hebrew) is not included with the case
    .
We designed and made this by carefully cutting and then kiln fusing many pieces of
    transparent
dichroic glass over little pieces of stained glass over a clear glass base in a multiple step process. We slumped (melted the glass over a form that we constructed) at approximately 1400 degrees and annealed (slowly cooled) the mezuzah case for over 8 hours.  Dichroic glass is a very beautiful and expensive specialty glass. It has a brilliant jewel-like or iridescent quality and it has the interesting quality that the colors may look different when seen from different angles or in different lighting.
Shipping is free and we try to ship within one business day. We do not ship late Friday
    afternoon
    or Saturday.
We have carefully embedded solid copper wire into it in the fusing process so it can be easily and safely hung with screws (included) or nails (copper tacks included).  Screwing or nailing through the wire avoids contact with the glass.  The wire is flexible enough to even put the screws or nails in first if you prefer.  If you put them in first, just gently open up the loops, fit them over the screw or nail and gently crimp near the top to reduce the size.
A mezuzah case is made to hold a small piece of parchment hand written by a skilled religious scribe with the Biblical passages Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and 11:13-21. The parchment is rolled up in the mezuzah case and affixed by Jewish households to their door frames in conformity with Jewish law and as a sign of faith. If you are not able to find a proper kosher parchment in your area, please email us and we will be glad to direct you to a source.
Please note that we have tried our best to provide an accurate photograph; however, stained glass can appear differently in different light. The enlarged photograph on your monitor sometimes tends to accentuate texture and reflections and show minor flaws that may not be noticed at its actual size.
We have worked together since 1976 and are long-term members of Ohio Designer Craftsmen. We work from our home studio and have been showing our work at galleries and museum shops for over 30 years.
