    Description

    Vtg. Farm Soil Water Tile Spade ~ now Use to transfer shrubs trees plants roots. Condition is Used.  These spades were used when farmers hired tiling companies to lay cement tile in the ground as a practice to drain excess water from their fields. Much tile was 6" diameter  ( bottom edge of spade is 6.5") and men would use the spade much like a trowel, smoothing the bottom of the trench so the individual tiles would lay flat and connect evenly to eachother. Now this practice is obsolete. We use these spades to slice a circle in the soil for planting and transferring young trees and shrubs.  Less surface area on metal end makes for easier soil penetration.
